We like SiteGround!
We have been around since 2004 and have had experience with hosting firms and setting up domains for people from 1999, so we have been around the block, so to speak.
What is a hosting firm?
A hosting firm simply is a home for your website on a server that is connected to the internet. The fees you are paying is sort of the rent for space on the hosting firm’s computer.
What do I look for?
From experience, there are a few things that are important when it comes to a hosting firm. Price is one thing, but the cheapest hosting firm is certainly not always the best. What is extremely important is their tech support and especially speed, skill/knowledge levels and friendliness. If a website is down, you don’t want to be on hold for 20 minutes, talk to someone who has to refer your issue to a colleague who will answer later, or argues with you.
Extra services are important, too. Backups and security scans are just two examples.
Who do you recommend?
We recommend SiteGround. Their tech support is fast, friendly and especially very skilled in solving a wide variety of issues. We like them so much, that we became affiliates. We do get a small commission if you use this link to sign up, but the commission is not the reason we recommend them at all. We simply love how we always feel supported by a great team whatever we do. We hope they stay around for a long time!
